TIPS ON CARING FOR YOUR STONE

*Use only neutral cleaners specially formulated for natural stone to clean your floors and if you don’t have proper cleaners use warm water. Please.

*Dust mop at least 1-2 times per week to  remove soil from floor that could cause scratching.  Be sure floor is dry before dust mopping. Use dry, untreated dust mop (Microfibers preferred) Push dust mop in only one direction, not back and forth.  Store dust mop with head off of the ground.  Wash and dry dust mop regularly in washing machine.

*Use a mat outside entry doors to prevent sand and grit from being tracked inside causing scratches and dullness.   Mats should also be placed inside entryways.  These should  be long enough to take three steps before stepping onto stone floor.

*Protect stone surfaces with a good quality sealer   It is best to call  Formula One Steam Cleaning to have stone sealed properly. High traffic areas should be re-sealed on  a yearly basis.

*Blot spills with a paper towel immediately. Don’t wipe because it will spread the spill and may cause area around spill to appear dull or streaked when dry.

*Use a squeegee for stone shower walls after each use to reduce water spots.

*If you notice streaking on your marble floor when you mop, dry the marble with a terry cloth towel after mopping.

*Place special felt or plastic guards (available at home improvement stores) on all furniture legs that come in contact with natural stone floors.  This will reduce scratches and other damage.

*Place plants on a special base to prevent staining and scratches.
